Diphylla @Deviant Art
I am paraffin, you are glass
A holocaust to my freedom
A portrait within and without
You cater only to presentation
I do not interest you
Only the pristine
The possibility
The irrevocable
A diamond would suit you
Better than a woman.
My heart might well
Furnish coal given time.
The pressure of perfection
Murders creativity
Your obelisk penetrates
My symphysis, my throat,
My aorta nothing less
Than dominion will satisfy
Your ego, your fascist wand,
Your grisly hands
I do not exist without
Possessive pronouns
My dog-eared flesh
Is still resilient
But in a few years
The war will spill
From my soul
Into my face
Into my breasts
Into my empty ovaries
Homicide or desertion
I know not which
But I welcome the change
Your obelisk penetrates
My symphysis,
that whole section is full of ovret sexual allusions….and even as you draw to the powerful close…this one was sad….it made me think of the domination of a younger person and then the change as they grow older…
You got it Brian!
You know, it’s hard to click like when one reads a poem like this … it’s powerful and well-written, oh but the feeling of angst!
I know what you mean but if I enjoy the writing I click like sometimes with a note to assure them I am not a sadist lol
True … I have to agree, it’s about the only way we can show we appreciate the read … Wish we had the choices that blogger has (when people use them) … much more complete.
Wow. Powerful ending!
This is my favorite part:
“dominion will satisfy
Your ego, your fascist wand,
Your grisly hands”
Thanks so much Gia!
I love the lines
I do not exist without
Possessive pronouns
it says so much.
Thank you very much XD
“My heart might well / Furnish coal given time. / The pressure of perfection / Murders creativity”
As usual, a very moving piece – I’ve been sitting with it for awhile now – and it is evocative – affecting. The spirals of change and growth, of seeing with new eyes, new faces, yet being contained, because of choices made, in different moments in time.
Strong and moving Yves 🙂
Thanks so much Pat =)
