There is always more fire
Than mercy
*
Your eyes are a sailor’s distress
A larvate sky poised with threat
Your heart is neither
Relic nor promissory
It is Venus in the vernacular
A sulfuric garden
That inculpates on entry
*
We shall not pass from existence
Driven off course by the oscillations
Of a punitive moon
*
You who are the genesis
Cannot be as easily denied
As an unfathomable creator
I exist through your violence
And it is by your hands
That I expect wholly to die
Wow, so many levels to this!! Fabulous!! 🙂 🙂
Thank you Helen your enthusiasm makes me so happy =)
This as Helen says has a number of levels to it. Determination, fate, expectation, love the way you construct such complex ideas Yves. Well done.
Thank you so much Michael for your kind words
those last 3 lines….as the rest of your piece… your imagination and eagerness for words pulls it together – well penned Yves. x
Thank you Jenny for your beautiful words

“Your eyes are a sailor’s distress
A larvate sky poised with threat
Your heart is neither
Relic nor promissory
It is Venus in the vernacular
A sulfuric garden
That inculpates on entry” – this has to be one of the most intricate things I ever read and tried to bring alive with my imagination. Magnificent work!
Oh thank you so much! My mind sometimes get a lot of images and emotions at once I tend to really pack it together

gosh. hard. a vicious creator…existing through their violence…that whole last stanza just kinda threw me in an emotional loop…
Good job catching onto the viciousness Brian
Earth, Sea, Mountain, Sky–older than Old Testament God or Ancient Gods, for sure, birthing and death-ing us in LOVE, which is not about “mere” compassion nor personal at all, no matter how we anthropomorphize it.. Your poem roars, making me realize just how rare and precious calm creativity is. Compassion and forgiveness provide much slower change. Patience. It is most definitely not a youthful characteristic.
No indeed it is not and I am not the most patient person I admit lol
