Petals of flame nip at my branches.

A willow stooped and aghast

Stirs her fathomless soup.

Come winter the ravens

Will pry trash from open bins

And residues from cracks

Too stingy to admit them.

Come winter I’ll be bundled

In sorrowful afghans

And Escher grey cloud concepts.

I will succumb to the famish

Of late morning, scuddling

From cupboard to cupboard.

The cold tests my marrow,

My veins grip in sleeves

Of muscle deadening

My hands and feet.

I am not equipped for this.

I paint hearts over the rise

Of your exposed breasts.

You are warm enough

To crawl into.

Punarjanmam is not for the faint

You must face the aarambham

And the avasaanam in

The same measured breath.

The sayang and the siren,

The worst and the best of each.

You are maganda, a teekva,

A sparrow, every length repeated

In the seas lascivious tide.

You are infinite and within you

I too am repeated.

I am figimaled and shiprighteous

Sentient only because

You have conceived me thus,

Sentient only because

You have ridden me

Into the storm, sails shorn,

Mast pummeled.

I have ardled and appraised.

I have sought and emptied.

My heart is full of shoes.

I am a sad sack, a giddy,

Unpalatable muse.

I am a rave of perversions

And gorgeous Shakespearean crypts.

I was even you once, long ago

Before it came into fashion.

  1. Punarjanmam is not for the faint. I don’t want to do it again, yet I’m quite sure I must.
I’m afraid the Team ignored poor Teekva in our piece. Sad. I really like pumpkins.

  2. Odd I think how some things like reincarnation go in and out of fashion. I was never one for burning candles or incense. But a nice cozy warm fire in the hearth.

We all manage to repeat our selves in some way. Either by ideas or ideals…or by having children 😉

I hope to have time to visit more of the pieces that used any much less all of these words! Cheers, Jules

    • I personally believe in reincarnation =) Hubbie bought me a gorgeous incense burner last year that I featured in a prompt, prior to that I had never used incense but it was so beautiful I had to use it. He chose some really nice scents and I find it leaves the house smelling lovely and fresh. I had smelt incense in shops and churches and thought it too smokey for my tastes but this one works quite beautifully. Candles we seldom use because we are so forgetful/clumsy sometimes tealights.

I repeat myself a lot lol
