I am given to certain
Eccentricities of gravity,
A pull toward expired luminaries
Toward pocket watches
And sepia-toned reliquaries.
An odyssey unto myself,
I sit aside my bike,
My legs, my arms,
All things mechanical
For the freedom of
Puffed dandelions and dreams.
I spin flowers from regolith
And mammoth bones,
Clouds tucked behind
My ear in place of coins.
I seep into hidden passages,
Into nooks both real and rehearsed,
A Cesarean scar,
A ray of sunshine,
A bucket of rainwater
Gathered accidentally in the shriek
Of an impromptu storm.

As usual you are such a pleasure to read…thanks for sharing in this collage and poem!
Thank you Oliana and thank you for your beautiful entry =)
I so loved how you started: I am given to certain
Eccentricities of gravity,
I immediately thought of the effects of aging…..sucks getting old I know that. Great use of the collage Yves, I did enjoy the images you created.
Thank you so much Michael and I am so happy you liked the collage =) I have 9 planned in total but if you guys are enjoying them I will continue to make them
They give so many avenues to write about.
XD I am glad to hear it
I think they generate great story ideas and provide such a variety most writers can connect with. I look forward to next weeks.
Thank you for your feedback Michael!
Oh Wow. Perfection, as usual–and I must agree with Michael, you are Queen of the opening phrases!
Thank you so much!
Welcome!
Fab opening phrase, I agree! Enjoyed the collage, and your imagery with words
Thank you so much Sue =)
😀
Oh dear, my comment was eaten by the gremlins who now populate my computer.
I said that I felt your endings were always powerful and full of intense imagery:
Clouds tucked behind
My ear in place of coins.
I seep into hidden passages,
Into nooks both real and rehearsed,
A Cesarean scar,
A ray of sunshine,
A bucket of rainwater
Gathered accidentally in the shriek
Of an impromptu storm.
In other words: beginning middle and end — a fascinating, complex reading through out.
[the good sorta complex — not impregnable, but many layers and images.]
Oh wow thank you for your tremendous compliment!
You are more than welcome. Your writing is powerful, emotive, evocative, and a lot of other adjectives. I don’t say it enough!
Awww thank you again
So much to like in your verse. Gravity, clouds and seeping into secret passages. – I think I shall go and explore a not so secret passage…
time to stretch my legs, my arms. 🙂
Thanks Jules =) Enjoy< yourself!
There are different things blooming here this time.
We were at this locale about a year ago.
Sad to see a fig tree not being harvested, it’s fruits wasted on a parking lot grounds. And some of the trails, they cut down the old trees. So the trail isn’t as shaded.
A walk is a walk is a walk…
I learned that wasps are absorbed into the figs and ever since I have been creeped out by them lol
I knew that wasps pollinated them…but not so much the other part. Just think of it like chocolate covered ants. Anchovies are added to something mostly for their salt content than the fishiness. XD
They can get trapped somehow I don’t fully understand but I know the plant absorbs them. I have never tried chocolate covered ants actually I don’t think have seen them before (though I have heard about them) but even so wasps are scarier lol
Sounds like Mother Nature, and a bit like me. 🙂
Thanks Dolly =)
These are such powerful images and lines invoking emotions called up and forth that move to the core. Another stunning and excellent piece Yves 😀
Thank you so much!
Another great write Yves…best wishes!
Thanks so much, the operation is over now. 4-6 weeks recovery time
Happy to hear it’s all over and you’re obviously doing well … take it easy and get well soon!
Sore but there were no complications in the initial surgery so I am hoping that everything heals up fine
i guess that was in the cards … and we’ll look at the bright side … not complications is very good indeed .. I’m sure you fly through with flying colours.
Thanks Georgia =)
