Wordle #146 “Muses”

146

The others are indelicate

With simmering bucolic eyes.

That exacerbate potential.

They tiptoe along the rivers’

Slovenly edge

Missing step after step

But never the beat

Of their former synergy.

The others are cruel

Balancing teacups

Between thumb and forefinger.

Their open hearts unzipping

Alternate frames.

Lips greasy with adipose,

They’ve got a craving

For marrow, for senses

Gloriously deranged.

The others are instinct

Uncompromising poems

Thrust posthumously

Into the public’s tremulous gaze.

Scandalous, they eat endeavor

Like squares of softening chocolate.

Their rebellions, sawed in half

With the soles of discarded boots,

Stomp forward, all or nothing

Obliging no one, not even the keeper.

  1. This makes me think of ballerinas, fighting for the coveted spot, center stage. Like in The Black Swan. Oh, or maybe other kinds of stage dancers … like in Showgirls. 😛 But then, their boots are discarded, so maybe they’re actually low-class strippers. I love the ending. It’s like an F-you to the owner of the club who isn’t paying them enough. They should open their own club. LOL. Wouldn’t that be the best? A strip club run by women. By women, for women. That’d be safest. Lock the men out; let ’em watch through the windows. Yeah, I’m gonna open one of those some day. You know, in my next life. 😉
