My thighs are strong and chaste
They revoke those invitations
Which my deferential mouth
Would unknowingly make
*
Behind my ribs a vulturous heart
Hungers for impermanence
I idle in this flesh, in this obedience
To my ancestral responsibilities
*
The mirror does not compose me
But the sea with her malformations
And misappropriations of light
Understands that I, too, am volatile
*
I live that you may adorn me
Mute and malleable
I suffer the gloaming
For therein lies those dreams
Which I am forbidden
On waking to personify
=
Submission for
Very beautiful, has a real air of mystery to it!! 🙂 🙂
Thank you Helen =)
“I idle in this flesh, in this obedience
To my ancestral responsibilities ” – such a powerfull and poignant line, and it is amidst a sea of more lines that are the same!
Awww thank you so much =)
Oh you’ve got to include this one in your poetry book! I love it. The opening lines are simply amazing…
Oh thank you Elia =) I have chosen the 100 poems already and they are with Brian for editing. It might be that this one will appear in a later book ,-) I still don’t know if my books would even sell lol
It will sell, of course. You have readers who regularly visit your blog. They’ll buy it, I think. Are you going to sell the PDF version, too, or just the paper book?
I was going to sell a paper book and an E-book version. By Pdf do you mean like the zip file I just send Brian that doesn’t require any special devices but can be viewed electronically? I hadn’t thought of that.
I didn’t get a notification of your reply and couldn’t find the reply button below your last comment, so I’ll just write here… Yeah, sort of like that. It doesn’t require any special devices, can be viewed electronically, but is not a zip file. It’s a format of e-book. Any format would be fine, though. I’m just more familiar with PDF :p
I am technologically incompetent so my husband will be doing that bit of it but I can mention having an electronic version in addition to the book maybe he already had it in mind I am not sure lol
I idle in this flesh, in this obedience
