I traced the distress
In your brow, trying to stay
Our expectations
*
Unhappy, we sought
In each other a depth
Not privately seized
*
Our failures exchanged
Lips but not hearts, spiteful
We cursed each other
*
Trauma lends to scars
To recurrent behaviors
Which favor bloodshed
*
Over rusted tears
Which belie a frailty
Atrocious to pride
*
We were two soldiers
Scarred so deeply we became
The battle itself
oh wow…vivid imagery…love the battle so much that we became the war, yet cannot live without one another…
Thank you very much for your lovely compliments
Love is a battlefield…so true. I like this.

Beautiful, intense and well versed. Esp. the second verse I felt! Thanks for sharing and coming by my post 🙂
Its my pleasure to visit your site =) Thank you so much for your lovely comments!
Truly love this imagery of love and war…too often we lose sight of the love or love lost and focus on who’s right or wrong in a fight:(
So true I find it really helps to have a sense of humor about yourself, my husband and I often dissolve into laughter when we catch ourselves being just stupidly stubborn
You are so welcome; I’m so glad I found your blog!
Me too because it lead me to your blog =)
